Zion
Canyon Corridor Management Plan Introductory/Intrinsic Qualities
Identification Public Meeting Presentation
The Five
County
Association of Governments conducted a series of meetings in April 2010
to introduce the Corridor Management Plan (CMP) to area residents,
local officials and business persons. In addition the Association
used these meetings to conduct a hands-on mapping exercise to identify
and locate specific intrinsic qualities found along and near the
corridor (see the "About" page on this web site for info
on those intrinsic qualities).
The Association made a PowerPoint
presentation explaining the process
to be followed in developing the CMP, as well as describe the qualities
we need the public's assisting in identifying. To view the
presentation (as a PDF file) please use this LINK.
Zion
Canyon Corridor
Futures Study
The
Department of Landscape Architecture + Environmental Planning at
Utah State University (LAEP-USU) has completed a "futures analysis" for
the Zion Canyon Corridor in Washington County Utah
(LaVerkin/Virgin/Rockville/Springdale). The
purpose of this study is to help the communities in the corridor
prepare for the future by:
1- Illustrating significant lands in the corridor,
2- Illustrating how development issues in the corridor
will impact significant lands, and
3- Providing a "toolbox" of specific actions communities
can take to prepare for a sustainable future.
