FIVE
COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF
GOVERNMENTS
The Five
County Association of Governments is a voluntary association
of local governments from the five southwestern counties of the State
of Utah. The five counties in southwestern Utah that
comprise the Five County Association of Governments are Beaver,
Garfield, Iron, Kane and Washington. The Five County Association of
Governments provide staff expertise to local elected and appointed
officials for the purpose of aiding in the development and
implementation of effective decision-making process. The overall
purpose of the Association is to provide a forum to identify, discuss,
study, and resolve area-wide planning and development concerns. The
Association provides assistance in Community and Economic Development,
Transportation Planning, Small Business Financing, Aging Programs, and
Human Services Planning.

ZION CANYON CORRIDOR COUNCIL
The Zion
Canyon Corridor Council (ZC3) is
a group of municipalities, land managers, and other interested parties
working to promote cooperation and collaboration in regional planning
in the Zion Canyon region. The ZC3 exists to:
1. Provide a forum for
open discussion and
communication regarding issues of regional importance in the Zion
Canyon region.
2. Protect and enhance the quality of life and
economic vitality of local communities in the Zion Canyon region.
3. Protect and enhance the natural, historic,
cultural, archaeological, scenic, and recreational qualities of the
Zion Canyon region.
4. Strengthen and maintain coordination among all ZC3
partners.
5. Enhance community pride and sense of place.
6. Conduct planning activities, studies, workshops,
public outreach events, etc. to achieve the objectives and purposes
listed above.
ZC3 is
implementing regional planning initiatives striving to apply
'Principle 1' of the recently-completed Washington County Vision Dixie
planning process: “Plan Regionally,
Implement Locally.”
State Route 9, the “gateway” to Zion National Park, is ZC3’s area of
emphasis. Besides this Corridor Management Plan for possible
application for National Scenic Byway designation, ZC3 is a also
pursuing a rural transit feasibility study for SR 9.
